The decorated trees will be given to area families.  Volunteers, businesses and community groups have donated their time, trees and trimmings for the 18th annual Listen Center Festival of Trees.

Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Columbia Mall is a drop off point for Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Collection boxes for new, unwrapped toys are located in center court and Macys and JC Penney’s courts.

Art the Tree: Kids color paper ornaments for Mall tree or for home

Visit Santa: Share your wishes with Santa. Professional photo packages available.

MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION

Write a letter to Santa and help make wishes come true! Bring your stamped letter to Macy’s, addressed to Santa at the North Pole and drop it into Macy’s special Santa letterbox. For every letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (up to $1,000,000). Macy’s will deliver the letters to the post office to mail to Santa! You can also purchase “Yes, Virginia” the holiday classic on dvd for $9.99 or the illustrated storybook for $16.99 at Macy’s and Macy’s will donate 10% of the purchase price of each to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Macy’s letter count updates (nationally) will be broadcasted on the CBS Early Show at 7am throughout the holiday season.

No matter how you feel about the Lock out going on at Crystal Sugar, the children of the employees are the ones who are going to suffer this Christmas. Help give them a happy Christmas. Whether you are on the side of corporate or the locked out employees, the children are the innocent bystanders who will be hurt by all this.

Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Columbia Mall is a drop off point for Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Collection boxes for new, unwrapped toys are located in center court and Macys and JC Penney’s courts before Dec. 6. You can also drop off toys at any of the United Way offices in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.

SANTA CLAUS GIRLS

Since 1916, the Grand Forks Herald Santa Claus Girls have been sending gifts of new toys to children 12 and younger from families in GF and EGF. Members of the community can help by donating money or volunteering to pack and/or deliver presents. To contribute money, fill out the coupon in the GF Herald or leave donations at the GF Herald during business hours. You can help make gift packages beginning at 2pm on Dec. 8 at the Herald Community Room. To deliver presents, come to the Herald Community Room at 8am on Dec. 9. Call the Herald for more information.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Each year, Operation Christmas Child asks volunteers to collect shoe boxes and pack them with items for children and then distribute the boxes to kids in 100 countries around the world. Volunteers at the GRAND Forks area collection site have been busy with thousands of shoe boxes packed with school supplies, toy and necessity items purchased and packed by area residents. Families can still participate through online giving called Build a Box. Volunteers can visit www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.

All Seasons: Holiday Open House This Weekend!

Local Grand Forks nursery, All Seasons Garden Center, is hosting their annual Holiday Open House this weekend! It’s the perfect time for you and the family to choose your tree, pick up a few poinsettas and maybe get a few new ornaments! The weekend weather will be great for outdoor decorating! The kids will enjoy the beautiful decorations, the “pets” of All Seasons (cats, fish and birds) and get into the holiday spirit. Stop by and enjoy the festive gift shop, homemade holiday cookies and bars, freshly brewed coffie and hot spiced apple cider. If you are planning on attending the Grand Forks Holiday Home Tour next weekend (kids not encouraged to attend) then you can pick  up your tickets at All Seasons too.
