READ dogs will come to the library the second Saturday during the winter months. Please contact the Children’s Department at the Grand Forks Public Library to make an appointment. Each child reads to the dog for fifteen minutes.
Nov 5: 2:00 p.m. – Mission Nutrition: Thanksgiving.
UND students will present “Mission Nutrition: Thanksgiving.” They will help kids create a fun snack, and share tips for eating healthy at Thanksgiving.
Nov 6: 1:00 p.m. – LEGO @ Your Library
The Children’s Department will host LEGO @ Your Library the first Sunday each month from
1-4 p.m. We will set out LEGOS for families to enjoy

Learn to transfer pictures from your digital camera to a computer, crop photos, remove red eye, resize and more. If you have a digital camera, please bring it with you to class.

Take the mystery out of the spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel 2007 – create easily sorted lists, track your spending, or balance your budget.

Keep in touch with friends and relatives across the country with Facebook, one of the most popular social media sites on the Internet today. Come and learn about Wall posting, privacy settings, and more. *If you need to create an account, please come half an hour before class for assistance.

Create a text document using Microsoft Word. Learn how to navigate the program, insert pictures, change font size and color, and much more.

Nov 17: 6:00 p.m. – Computers 101
The basic Windows info session is designed as a class for beginners who have little or no experience with computers. You will gain an understanding of the mouse, keyboard, tower, desktop, and monitor, get familiar with Windows, learn the ins and outs of the program, and file organization, and become familiar with the “desktop”.

Open to anyone 18 years of age and over the Writers Group will meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Join Fancee Long -Gorski in discussing many parts of the writing process including characterization, dialogue, point of view, and pacing. Please bring your own writing tools, (pen, paper, and laptop) and be prepared to share and discuss. All interested are asked to pre -register at the GFPL reference desk, although walk-ins are welcome.

Join Melinda Harder at the Grand Forks Public Library and create your own holiday greeting cards! Supplies are provided.
Nov 12: 3:00-5:00 p.m. – National Gaming Day
Come to the Grand Forks Public on Nov 12th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and enjoy some on-line gaming. The computer lab has been reserved for those two hours strictly for the gamers! Any age welcome. Nov 16: 9:00 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. – Write-In
Do you need space to work on your novel? Come to the Grand Forks Public Library Write-In. On November 16, any time from 9am to 5:45pm, writers are encouraged to come and write in our meeting room. The Write-In will be followed by a meeting of the library’s writing group at 6pm. The GFPL Write-In is part of National Novel Writing Month. For more information, go to www.nanowrimo.org.
