READ Dogs: Sat. Sept. 10

Literacy is important and the Grand Forks Public Library helps instill this with its READ Dogs Program. Children have the opportunity to practice reading aloud one-on-one with a READ dog. The dogs prove to be the perfect audience and confidence booster since they are good, patient and nonjudgmental listeners. The READ Dogs program will be taking place this Saturday at 2pm. Call 701.772.8116 to  make an appointment for your child!

East Grand Forks Campbell Library

The good thing about living right along the state border is that we have two of everything, including libraries! The East Grand Forks Campbell Library is a beautiful library that offers many activities for children and adults. Now that school is back in session in Minnesota, Storytime has resumed at the EGF library. There are three storytimes a week: Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00am and Thursday evenings at 7:00pm. After storytelling time there is a craft. The whole event runs about 30-40 minutes.

Library Card Information:

Library cards are good for one year.

For East Grand Forks residents that live in town, and members of the Grand Forks Air Force Base with an active military card, library cards are free. To get your free card, you must have proof of residency with you to obtain your card. This could be anything from a license to mail sent to your residence in East Grand Forks.

For Patrons outside of city limits, here are the costs:

Child: $10

Adult (just books): $10

Adult (books and movies): $15

The Children’s Department is on the second level of the library and they offer Pre-School Story-time every Tuesday at 10 AM and Toddler Story-time (ages 0-3 years) every Thursday at 10 AM (lasts about 20 minutes, storytelling, songs, puppet shows, sometimes a craft).  Other children’s activities include a summer reading program, a winter reading program and R.E.A.D. Dogs. There is also a Teen department with its own Teen Advisory Board with various activities throughout the year.  Coming up on Mon. Sept. 26 at 9PM is Family Movie Night.
