MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) Thurs. Sept. 8

MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers) will be hosting it’s first meeting of the new school year this Thursday, 9:00am-11:00am at Faith Evangelical Free Church. In MOPS every mom is welcomed, accepted and inspired to reach her potential and recognize her influence within her family and her world. MOPS believes that better moms really do make a better world.

During our first meeting, we’re going to talk about how we can love our community, and we’re offering you a couple practical ways to build it up. In addition to talking with new and old friends, we’ll be making baby blankets to donate to the Grand Forks Women’s Pregnancy Center.

If you have any additional donations you’d like to make to the Women’s Pregnancy Center, please bring them. These might include new items like baby bath wash, or other similar items, clothing items your child just never wore, or other items.

One of our Mentor Moms is preparing an inspiring devotional, and as always, there will be a delicious breakfast, childcare for children birth to age 5 and good conversation!

In 2011-2012, we’ll be meeting on the second Thursday of each month for fellowship at Faith Evangelical Free Church. On the fourth Thursday, we’ll have a planned play date, and we have some FUN planned!

Please see the other information provided on our webpage http://grandforksmops.blogspot.com/ or find us on Facebook at ‘Grand Forks, ND MOPS’ and feel free to contact us with questions!

See you mothers and kids tomorrow morning!

East Grand Forks Campbell Library

The good thing about living right along the state border is that we have two of everything, including libraries! The East Grand Forks Campbell Library is a beautiful library that offers many activities for children and adults. Now that school is back in session in Minnesota, Storytime has resumed at the EGF library. There are three storytimes a week: Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00am and Thursday evenings at 7:00pm. After storytelling time there is a craft. The whole event runs about 30-40 minutes.

Library Card Information:

Library cards are good for one year.

For East Grand Forks residents that live in town, and members of the Grand Forks Air Force Base with an active military card, library cards are free. To get your free card, you must have proof of residency with you to obtain your card. This could be anything from a license to mail sent to your residence in East Grand Forks.

For Patrons outside of city limits, here are the costs:

Child: $10

Adult (just books): $10

Adult (books and movies): $15

Sioux Fan Fest Sat. Sept. 10

It may only be the beginning of September, but hockey season is just around the corner! UND’s Department of Athletics is hosting it’s third annual Sioux Fan Fest on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Ralph Engelstad Arena from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ice level in the main arena.

The  Fighting Sioux men’s and women’s hockey teams will be there and will take part in autograph sessions, a skills station (for 8th-graders and younger) and question-and-answer sessions on the media stage.

A free lunch will be provided to fans courtesy of the Midco Sports Network, and the first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a free Fighting Sioux and Midco Sports Net acrylic mug. One lucky fan will also be selected to win a 32-inch, high definition television.

Other fun-filled activities include:

  • Get your picture taken with the MacNaughton Cup and Broadmoor Trophy!
  • Take part in the Sioux Kids Club activities area or sign up if you’re not already a member! While you’re there, register and learn more about Sioux Crew and the Fighting Sioux Club.
  • Sign up for the chance to ride the Zamboni at men’s and women’s hockey games!
  • Pick up FREE promotional items such as schedule posters and pocket schedules!
  • Hit up the grab-bag stations. For only $3 fans can purchase a grab bag full of Sioux memorabilia. Random bags will be stuffed with tickets to men’s and women’s hockey games.

Fans will be limited to one outside item for autographs and UND athletics will be providing an autograph card to the first 500 fans.

Parents are encouraged to register their children for one of the skills session upon arrival as space is limited for each session.
